Purple Pumpkin

here is the sketch from the December challenge at Purple Pumpkin

I had a recent photo of my daughter who was a bridesmaid for her friends wedding that I used rather then the three pics in the sketch,  I scrapped some tinted gesso over a vine stencil as in the sketch, I added some tags flowers and ribbon, but the page seemed to heavy on one side, so I continued with the gesso vine around the photo area, the page still didn't seem right  so I added some pearls and leaves over the top of the photo, making it feel more balanced, I was working against the clock as I wanted to photograph the page outside before it got dark, I usually take a long time to complete a page but this was a quick page.

Off the Rails Scrapbooking Challenge

This is my first time entering into the challenge on Off The Rails Scrapbooking ,the challenge is to use acetate, I found an acetate sheet in my stash already printed, so I cut it up and put some pieces here and there on my page, anything with black printing is from the sheet. the photo is of my beautiful granddaughter at preschool, I smeared gesso on a black and white floral paper, stuck on some scraps of paper used a bit of purple mist and played with my brand new gelatto's  adding some more gesso over the top again, I made a banner with some scraps of paper and made a small dint in
my stash of flowers, here is a close up of my banner

Scrap the girls

Scrap the girls for December is a multiple photo challenge, I've had these pics of my youngest for 4 years now having a nap with her very cuddly niece. My granddaughter was getting to the chunky heavy stage when they still need to be carried, so was becoming difficult for aunty to carry around she laid down with her and I caught them both having a nap!

white with one

I'm nice and early this month, just the second one to enter! December's challenge  colour is banana, the star of the layout is my granddaughter  in a pre-school photo from last year.
I gessoed   the cardstock, sprayed some mist on, thought it was to dark so I gessoed over it again. I downloaded 2 of the digital prints, which was a fantastic idea whomever made it up. {don't tell me they have always been available and I have only took any notice last month!}
I ripped up what yellow paper I had in the right tone and added some black washi tape to balance out all the yellow, I added flowers and some gems. I also added some sewing with some gold metallic thread, but it's not easy to see.

Scrap the girls

This is my page for Scrapbooking the girls, I'm a bit addicted to mixed media at the moment, not that I'm very good at it, but its fun! The photo of my three daughters is a few years old now, I'm guessing it was a birthday photo, it was laying around so I scrapped it! The challenge for November at Scrap the girls was a Quote, you can read it on the layout!

"scrap friends"

Scrap friends colour pallet challenge for November, I have been admiring the "messy mixed media" layouts by Georgia Heald, and after watching a utube clip of her a had a go, all was good until I dropped a full tub of gesso onto my power board with all my necessary toys plugged into it, laptop, gluegun, heat tool, lamp, needless to say a big clean up was necessary.

november white with one

ww1 blueberryThis is the colour for the November challenge, it has been combined with creative scrappers BlogSpot.com, here is my page for white with one using the colour blueberry, I didn't have any paper in this colour so I down loaded and printed some out from the computer, the picture is  around of my granddaughter as a newborn, I layered bits and pieces of anything white I could find, stamped some arrows, splashed some paint around on the background, used my brand new silhouette machine to make the sweet memories frame.

Scrapbooking from scratch october challenge

This is the sketch for this months challenge on Scrapbooking from scratch, And my take on the sketch!

Sassy Scrapper october challenge

This is the first time I have entered into a challenge from Sassy Scrappers, the challenge for October is to scraplift one of their design team, I choose Leonie's layout to lift! I found these cute pics of my granddaughter  enjoying some vegemite on a bickie.

Scrap the boys October challenge

Scrap the boys challenge for October is to use the colours blue and green. I had a picture of a friends son that had the right colours in it..

Kraft it up October challenge

OCTOBER CHALLENGE  Here are the colours for Kraft it up challenge for October.
I grabbed a pic of my grandson and any papers I could find in that colour way, cut some banner shapes added some stars and buttons and I was done, I have done this style a few times but I like it!

Super super busy moving!

Hello!
we have had a home we live in and a rental property for a few years now, we had 3 houses going when I was working! {madness}  so we decided to sell them and buy a property to suit our current lifestyle, we sold our home we lived in in record time, as in the first open home! then moved into the rental property to maximise its selling potential! it also sold first open house, and the buyers wanted to move fast, so after a mad search for something to suit us, we brought our new house and sold 2 and moved 2 times in a matter of weeks. So we have been super busy, also during that time my eldest daughter and 2 kiddies lived with us as her hubby had transferred a million miles away for a new job and was finding them a new place to live.We have been in this house for 3 weeks now and our middle daughter has moved away, so now it's our youngest 20 year old daughter me and hubby who through all this managed to keep up with shift work.
needless to say no scrapbooking has been done for awhile, even thou I have had my room set up beautifully {I had no idea we would sell so fast!} but now that I have had some spare time and was missing scrapbooking so much I have managed to do a couple of challenges for October.

use your stuff

Use your stuff for the month of September was all about stitching, there are machine stitching lines on several bits of paper here and there, my machine decided to play up so I gave up, otherwise I would have done more sewing .

STUCK- challenge for August

This months challenge from Stuck is to follow a sketch and use a party theme.

Here is my take on the sketch.

I reversed the sketch and using photos of my grandson whom turned 2 this year. I proceeded to make my layout, I couldn't find any background paper in the colours I wanted, so I dug out some mists and using a toilet roll I sprayed  into the roll on the places I wanted some circles, I found the light coloured frame in my stash then made another in the red chevron paper and a matching file tab I also made the pleated circle thingy, all the other bits and pieces were in my stash, lastly I used a pen to outline the circles and draw the large circle as in the sketch.
I'm not sure how many comps I will be able to enter this month as we are moving soon, but I'm sure my scrap room will be the last room I pack up!

Scrap the girls, July.

Scrap the girls challenge this month is to include this song title
"how sweet it is to be loved by you"  in your layout.

Here is my layout, the pic is of me and my granddaughter on our way to somewhere special, I handmade the dress she is wearing, not that you could see much of it in this picture,  I dug out my stencils for a play, I laid  a leafy tree stencil over the brickwork sprayed it with mist and it smudged, because I didn't wait for the gesso to dry in between stencils!  the pretty background paper is from kaszazz I glued on a bit of paper doily rose behind the photo, I did a bit of random stamping, and added some flowers and crochet doilies from my stash also a few stick on purls and fine gold thread, and there you have it, my last entry for July.

Sketches with a twist.

For the month of July  sketches with a twist challenge is to follow the sketch and use a card stock base
I choose 3 pictures of my grandson playing happily at his sisters pre-school, I used handmade  stars instead of butterflies in the sketch, apart from turning my tags around I'm pretty close to the sketch,  I don't think I have put drops of ink on card stock before it just soaks in and doesn't leave round spots like it does on paper! not that it matters, just a note for next time.

The studio challenges

The studio challenge for July sketch was fairly simple as I had already chosen fairly recent  photos of my cheeky granddaughter in her sunnies in the car and had the strip of washi-tape covered cardstock ready for a another page I was making but when I re-checked the closing date I had missed it! so I grabbed some coordinating paper, doilies, flowers and bits & pieces and I was done!
I'm not sure what happened when I tried to use the Linky for this page, but it didn't go through, so I was not entered into this competition.

KRAFT July challenge

This month your challenge is to create a layout using a different style than you normally create.

I do a variety of styles when I scrapbook, useualy lots of layers or mixed media type backgrounds and I  love to incorporate lots of embellishments and a bit of stamping, what  I don't do is white space with only a few bits and pieces scattered around, that kind of freaks me out! I do admire is Louise Neilson from
an Uninterrupted view  she has an simple/artsy way of scrapbooking, so that's the style I choose for this competition.

WHITE WITH ONE-JULY 2013

White with one for July, the criteria is WHITE + NAVY + ARROWS
I thought to my self, to easy, but after searching through my somewhat huge stash I soon discovered that I didn't really have much in the way of navy only a couple of pieces of cardstock, so back to the stash to find what I could in denim blue ,with  a few accents of black and some stamping, rubons and a few splothches of ink I managed to do a page, the photo is of my grandson as a baby learning to sit up, I will have to check with his mummy what age he was so I can include it on the layout!

Stuck-July challenge

This is the sketch for "Stuck"

This is my take on it! I used a pic of my granddaughter from her baptism 4years ago, pretty easy once I found some papers to match the pink in the photo, I like to use pages from old books, just a reminder to others doing this, check the content of the paper before gluing it down,  sometimes an inappropriate word could  end up on your page, yep! I learnt the hard way, but mistakes can easily be fixed, just stick something else over it!

Purple Pumpkin July

Here is Purple Pumpkin's sketch for July

Here is my take on the sketch, I used a pic of my granddaughter looking cute, even thou she was sick at the time, everything is hand made apart from the pink rose, the ribbon with "I love you"  written on it the beading and the plastic circle thingy's.

scrapbooking from scratch

this challenge is a quote challenge , the quote being:" the best thing about memories is making them"

Here is my take, I learnt a lesson while making this page, don't try to sew through foam thickers, they bunch up and rip off and the paper underneath tears as well, I won't try that again!

Purple Pumpkin

June Sketchthis is Junes sketch,

Here is my take on it.

sketches with a twist

the sketch for June and the twist is to use transparencies.

here is my interpretation, apart from the bird washitape everything that is black is a transparency!
