"White with one", december comp.
This is my entry for " white with one" December comp, the criteria was white/red and a Christmas photo, the photo is from last year of my youngest daughter in a top she bought herself with the words naughty or nice written on it! I don't use the colour red very often but I managed to find few bits and pieces to work with.

December Scrap the boys entry
I have been MIA for a while now, I haven't been scrap booking at all, I have been making a scrap/art journal, we have busy painting our home inside, my hubby and I had a few days away together for the 1st time since our honeymoon, a million years ago! and while we were a way, we had a huge hail storm and our home received a fair amount of damage, including hubby's car, Im really cranky at the amount of excess we have to pay to have it fixed, I sometimes wonder why we pay insurance! The window in my scrap booking room was broken from the hailstones and I had a long bench under the window loaded with paper & products, all wet and covered in glass, so I have had a big clean out, I need to rearrange the room as Im not getting any of the air con where I sit, and I really feel the heat.
Anyway I feel like getting back on track with scrap booking and entering as many online comps as I can before the new year. The 1st one is for "Scrap the boys" the criteria was to scrap a Christmas photo in non-traditional colours, so I choose aqua, orange and yellow. The pic is from last year of my grandson eating Christmas balls off the tree.

Scrapbooking again!
I have made a page for Purple Pumpkin scrap booking blog, this months comp is a sketch.
This is my layout, I have been playing around with some mixed media/ collage style work, it has a lot of detail in the background that you can't really see, until you see it up close, I'm pleased with the result anyway.
The photo was taken with my grandson wearing his lovely christening outfit, that included shoes and cap all on the same material as the sailor pants and shirt! with his name embroidered on his cap! of course! all handmade made by his clever grandmother.

"DIET" a four letter word!
Towards the end of last month I decided to get healthy, I swapped over to everything being wholegrain/ organic, I have for the past few years I have eaten everything labelled low fat, lite 97% fat free, thinking I was doing the right thing, I was allways craving sugar and having headaches and feeling shaky if I hadn't eaten for a while, my insulin levels were all over the place even thou Im not diabetic and I might add, getting fatter & fatter! So that way of dieting wasn't doing me any good. So putting on my thinking cap and doing some research, realised that all those low fat foods are full of sugar! so no wonder my body was haywire!
I am not having foods with sugar in them, you need to read labels everything has sugar in it! so I have to do lots of cooking, Im a real sweet tooth, so I have been making muffins, cakes, etc using a product called agave, there are a few natural allternatives for sugar, I like agave it tastes like the real stuff! I have switched from anything white to wholegrain, Im trying different types of flours amd grains, all my low fat foods are now full fat eg- real butter, real cream, organic yogurt yum! It's hard to change the way you have eaten for years, not on the taste buds but in the brain! I was skeptical about the fad of not having sugar, but after not having it for a few days you don't miss it, eating healthy keeps you full and satisfied, after 4 days on my "diet!" 3 people commented on how I had lost weight! { they knew nothing about my food habits!} I felt lighter allready! All was great untill I got a few winter bugs that flared up my asthma, I have been in and out of bed for weeks, last visit to the Dr loaded me up with new meds, feeling better after just a few doses, having little appetite and no energy to cook has me grabbing anything I feel like to eat, and not allways the best choice! back to the healthy stuff when Im better!
Scrapbooking has taken a holiday while Im sick, hopefully I will get back to it soon,I have heaps to make, but no energy to do it.

handmade blog challenge sketch
This scrapbook page is my take on a sketch taken from Handmade.
The photo of my granddaughter was taken several hours after her birth, she was in a hurry to enter this world, a few weeks too early, her lungs were not developed enough to breath on her own, our local hospital was not equipped for such an ill baby, so she was airlifted to Sydney.

The July challenge for "white with one" is to use - white, polka dots and tape. I started with white cardstock and 2 pics of my grandaughter doing craft, then I found lots of strips of polka dot paper in my stash, and 4 different washi tapes, an assortment of letter stickers and a few journaling tags.

I won a challenge pack!
I won a challenge pack from "Scraphappy Kat" it contained 3 double sided papers, ribbon, a few flowers and a pen to doodle with. I found it quiet hard as I didn't like the papers, but I managed to pull it off, I used everything in the pack without adding extras, I was pleased with the flowers I made with the paper, I also used some glimmermist to add some sparkle!
not sure why the pics are not uploading cropped already? anyway the pics are of my middle daughter after a visit to the hairdresser!

little scrapbooker in the making
I just came across these photos of my gorgeous little granddaughter taken last year before she turned 3
When ever she comes over she wants to" play stamping she goes to my scrap room, gets herself a bunch of stamps a few ink pads and paper, not always spare paper or the stamps I want her playing with or she grabs some punches usually a flower or butterfly and makes a collage, she hasn't asked for any photos yet but I'm sure that will come! It's funny when they are little, they stick every thing on top of each other, perhaps she is into layering! Ha Ha.
If you look closely you can see blue ink on her face and arms, kids are so cute when you catch them playing, and not posing for a photo.
